RACE member Dwayne Escola has provided a summary page of the Connecticut new 2012 incentives available for both Connecticut residents and businesses to install photovoltaic panels. See the potential savings for installing a 5 kilowatt solar system to offset electricity use in a home as well as for a 2 kilowatt solar system for use charging an electric or plug-in hybrid car (when used in electric mode). The new incentives are also very attractive for businesses - showing a simple payback of around 5 years

In 2008, Ridgefield businesses  purchased almost half of the $47 MILLION our town spent on electricity. Something can be done!  In December 2010, RACE co-sponsored a program with Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce to inform business owner about The Small Business Energy Advantage program (SBEA).

 The Small Business Energy Advantage program is a win-win opportunity for businesses, offering a free on-sight assessment of the efficiency of lighting, heating and HVAC equipment.  Energy efficient upgrades are recommended where appropriate.

For qualifying customers that implement the upgrades, the SBEA program offers up to  50%-of-cost cash incentives as well as zero percent financing, often resulting in immediate out-of-pocket savings on utility bills. A number of Ridgefield businesses have already taken advantage of this program.
