New Incentives for Installing Solar in Homes and Businesses

RACE member Dwayne Escola has provided a summary page of the Connecticut new 2012 incentives available for both Connecticut residents and businesses to install photovoltaic panels. See the potential savings for installing a 5 kilowatt solar system to offset electricity use in a home as well as for a 2 kilowatt solar system for use charging an electric or plug-in hybrid car (when used in electric mode). The new incentives are also very attractive for businesses - showing a simple payback of around 5 years.

Discover how you can enjoy the benefits of energy efficiency in your home. A good way to start is to sign up for the Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge.  The Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge (N2N) is a new program in Ridgefield that aims to reduce energy consumption in 10% of households by 20%. In addition to Ridgefield, 13 other CT towns are participating in the challenge and competing to see who can reach and/or exceed their goals. By taking steps to become more energy efficient, residents will help Ridgefield meet its goals and potentially win town rewards such as solar powered LED street lights. Ridgefield's official launch of the challenge takes place at the Ridgefield Recreation Center on Tuesday, April 26th @ 7 pm (See article below.]

RACE is pleased to be co-sponsoring three  Home Energy Basics Workshops being held at the Ridgefield Library. These workshops aim to inform Ridgefield residents about CT tax incentives and rebates available for home energy efficiency upgrades. Workshop attendees will learn about the Home Energy Solutions (HES) program and why a HES visit is the most effective way to improve home energy efficiency, and save serious money on utility bills. Home Energy Solution’s technicians will be present to answer any questions and will be able to schedule HES visits on-the-spot for those who are ready to get started.

Workshop # 1 is being offered twice, on April 27th @ 7 pm and again on May 3rd @ 1 pm. Workshop #2, a follow-up session, will be held on May 11th @ 7 pm. All are to held in the library's Dayton Program Room. Learn more about these free workshops, sponsored by N2N, the Ridgefield Library and RACE,  at the library events page. Once there, type "energy" into the "search events" box; then click on "GO."
